Moderate, liberal, Democrat, Republican, conservative—these descriptors generally reflected some underlying truth. No longer. Today, labels assigned to public officials—RINO, MAGA, socialist, “true” conservative, “sem-fascist”—often have no bearing on what anyone actually believes.
